International Women’s Day


Two Inspiring Writers

To celebrate International Women’s Day, North Lanarkshire Libraries have two great events featuring two of the best Scottish women writers. You can join us in the day of recognition of achievements of woman worldwide at these two events starring Scabby Queen author Kirstin Innes and The Gracekeepers author Kirsty Logan.

Join us as Kirstin Innes helps us celebrate International Women’s Day and discusses “Writing Scottish Women”. This is an area that Kirstin definitely has expertise in with her novels “Scabby Queen”, with its rich and varied cast of female characters, to her debut “Fishnet” on sex work and sisterhood. Kirstin will also be sharing with us some of her favourite writers and women that inspire her.

Join us on International Women’s Day to hear Kirsty Logan discuss her latest work “No and Other Love Stories”. In this unsettling collection, women navigate the complexities and cruelties of desire across time and place. Kirsty will take us on a journey of stories of strange desire and alternative romance, going from medieval convent to 90s high school.

Kirsty Logan is an acclaimed Scottish writer and the author of 9 books, including “The Gracekeepers”, “The Gloaming”, “Now She Is Witch” and her recent memoir, “The Unfamiliar: A Queer Motherhood Memoir”.
