CultureNL’s commitment to privacy

CultureNL Limited is a charitable company set up by North Lanarkshire Council to run the cultural activities within North Lanarkshire including arts and venues, community arts, community centres, libraries, museums and heritage and play services.

We are committed to protecting the privacy and the confidentiality of any personal data about you. Your personal data may be used for the following purpose(s):

  • Providing you with services
  • Communicating with you about our services
  • Marketing our services to you

CultureNL may share your personal data with and obtain personal data from North Lanarkshire Council in order to provide our services. We will not share your personal data with third parties without your consent, unless required to do so by law.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of those using our website and the confidentiality of any personal information with which subscribers provide us. Information and service requests

If you request information or a service via email, letter or telephone, we may need your personal details to process that request.

Online forms

There is a range of online forms to allow you to make comment or request particular services.

Each form requests your contact details, however you are only obliged to provide particular details if it is marked as mandatory; indicated by an asterisk *.

If you do provide personal information we will use it only to process your request and, thereafter in accordance with the individual Data Protection registrations for the services provided.

Visitor statistics

To help us monitor website trends and statistics, our webserver collects visitor information such as IP address, city or country of origin, type of browser and operating system used, pages visited and duration of visit. These statistics are anonymised and we do not use this information to identify individuals.

Persistent cookies

These cookies remember your preferences from visit to visit and remember, for example, if you have changed the font size and whether you have JavaScript enabled on your computer.  Persistent cookies will remain on your computer unless you delete

Session cookies

The following applications use session cookies which are used to remember information you have entered as you move from screen to screen.  They are deleted when you leave the website or application.

You can set your web browser to refuse cookies from all or just a selection from these sites.  You may also delete any that have already been set. This will do no harm but may impair some functionality.

Google Analytics

This web analytics tool helps us understand how visitors engage with  and the ADL Smartcare Assessment.  We can review reports about how visitors interact with our website and this helps us improve it.  Google Analytics collects information anonymously.  It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors.  You can opt out of this should you wish.

Local Shared Objects (Flash cookies)

Culture NL uses the Adobe Flash Player to deliver its video content. To improve user experience, Local Shared Objects – or Flash cookies as they are commonly known – are employed to provide features such as auto-resume and for saving your preferences. Flash cookies are stored on a user’s terminal much the same as cookies are, however it is not possible to manage them at browser level in the same way.

How to disable Flash cookies:

The Adobe website provides comprehensive information on how to delete or disable Flash cookies either for a specific domain like northlanarkshire.gov.uk or for all websites – seehttp://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/security for details. Please be aware that restricting the use of Flash cookies may affect the features available to you for Flash based content on our sites.

Cookies set by third party sites

We sometimes embed photos and video content from websites such as YouTube and Flickr. As a result, when you visit a page with content embedded from, for example, YouTube or Flickr, you may be presented with cookies from these websites.  Culture NL  does not control the dissemination of these cookies.  You should check the relevant third party website for more information about these.
