Who is Letitia McKell?

Letitia McKellThis Makerspace has been made possible thanks to a generous bequest from Letitia McKell.

Born in Cambusnethan in December 1919 she and her husband, Frank, emigrated to North America in 1946, eventually settling in Everett, Washington State, USA where Frank worked in various jobs including as an Engineer.

Letitia was known for her quick-witted humour and her willingness to look after people. Letitia died in September 2001.

We are grateful to her for this behest which allowed this Makerspace to be created.

Our new Makerspace has a range of digital and electronic equipment to help you create, repair and recycle, explore and learn.

We have a range of 3D printers allowing for different print bed sizes.

  • Rais3D Pro 3 Plus

Dye Sublimation Printer & Heat presses

Our Epson SureColour F100 prints dyes onto specialist paper. This allows you to transfer photographs and designes onto other items such as mugs, t-shirts and bags in the heat presses.

Emblaser 2 3D Laser Cutter / Egraver

This small laser cutter will allow cutting and engraving on a wide range of materials including cloth, cardboard, paper, leather and some woods.

Sewing & Embroidery

The Makerspace has a range of sewing and embroidery machines available . These include :

  • Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 sewing machine
  • Brother Innovis F420 sewing machine
  • Brother Lock 2104D Overlocker
  • Simplicity Bias Tape Maker
  • Brother Innovis F540E embroidery machine (single needle)
  • Brother Entrepreneur ProX Digital Embroidery machine (10 needles)
