Brilliant resources to help with health and wellbeing
All North Lanarkshire Libraries have dedicated Healthy Reading collections, which have been designed to help all members of our communities get the most from life.
The Healthy Reading resources include books, DVDs and compact discs, which have been specially developed with our partner health professionals to help borrowers deal with stress, anxiety, depression, illness, dementia and a variety of other conditions on their own terms.
The Healthy Reading resources are part of the wider ‘Well Connected’ programme of activities and courses across North Lanarkshire.
Our Healthy Reading collections also promote positive wellbeing programmes such as increased confidence, assertiveness, good parenting skills and sleeping better. The resources available are aimed at all age groups, and borrowers may even be ‘prescribed’ a recommended book by their GP or health professional.
Our Healthy Reading collections are available to borrow free of charge to all Library members, and therefore make it much easier to access health & wellbeing information across our communities. Some of the titles are also available on our eBook and eAudiobook service – BorrowBox. For more information on how to use the service, visit our BorrowBox webpage.
To help increase access to the Healthy Reading collections, we’ve created curated lists on our online catalogue. These can be used to reserve titles online and sent to your local library for collection. Click the list below to view it online and reserve the title that would best help you:
