Reading Challenge 2025

Always question, always wonder, always read.

Our 2025 Reading Challenge for kids this summer hopes to spark the imagination with a Science Theme.
As part of the lead-up to the challenge, children aged 4–12 were invited to design a banner to represent this year’s theme. The winning design, is now featured in libraries across North Lanarkshire throughout the summer.

Look out for the banners, posters and information in the branches about the summer activities going on throughout the school holidays.

We will have some great videos from You Tube hit STEM with Mr N on our own YouTube channel, so don’t forget to check that out.

The Challenge

We challenge you to read 6 books over the Summer Holidays! The Challenge runs from Saturday 14 June to Saturday 23 August.

During that time , you can register to joint the challenge and take part for FREE. Don’t worry if you don’t already have a library card – we can sign you up on the day.

You will receive stickers and prizes along the way as you complete the 6 book challenge. If you want to do more than 6, we have the Bonus Bookmark challenge, were you collect stickers for an additional 6 books read and you are entered into a Draw for a fantastic prize when you complete!

Ask for more details at your local branch.
