We are a denominational primary school serving Townhead in the north of Coatbridge. When we opened in 1950, there were two separate single storey buildings. In 1960 these were linked with a main hall. Substantial upgrading was completed in 1988.
The classrooms are large and there are additional open areas and resource rooms for music, drama, computing and literacy. There is a large tarmacadamed playground and an extensive grassed area.
The active Parents’ Group promote links between the home, school and the wider community. Parents attend induction meetings prior to the start of each session and are involved in activities throughout the year. Community Education organise a range of activities helping to foster continuing education for the local community.
The school is well resourced in each curricular area. Parents, staff and pupils work together to raise achievement and attainment. Extra curricular activities include football, netball, fitness, dance, chess and art.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from St Bartholomew’s primary normally transfer to St Ambrose High School.
