Shawhead Primary School

Shawhead Primary school badge

The school was built in 1992 as a modern, open plan community school. We serve the Shawhead and Whifflet areas of Coatbridge. We have 5 classes, a library and a structured play area within the open area. We also have a gymnasium which is multi purpose.

We are very proud of our welcoming ethos and our very effective links with parents, other schools, educational support services and the wider community. We also have very effective arrangements for the care, welfare and safety of the pupils in our care. At present we have 7 teaching staff and 5 non teaching staff.

Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Shawhead primary normally transfer to Coatbridge High school.
