Celebrated Scottish musicians Monica Queen and Johnny Smillie are reuniting to form a special band for a one-off performance of Thrum’s iconic 1994 album Rifferama, celebrating the “Everything Flows” exhibition showcasing the vibrant musical history of North Lanarkshire.

Queen and Smillie – founding members of the beloved cult band Thrum – will revisit Rifferama, a record that captured the raw emotional power of alt-rock with Queen’s unmistakable voice at its heart.

“This album means the world to us,” said Monica Queen. “It’s part of who we are, and we’re so excited to bring it back to life in the place where so much of our story began.”
Johnny Smillie added: “North Lanarkshire has always punched above its weight musically. We’re proud to be part of that history, and it feels right to honour Rifferama with a proper celebration.”

The specially assembled band will include a handpicked group of local and Scottish musicians, bringing fresh energy to Thrum’s heartfelt, guitar-driven sound. The performance will be a centrepiece event of the exhibition.
