Reminiscence for Older People

In the MoodMemory Lane

We come to your venue to lead a community
singing session. You can enjoy tunes from the
1950s and 1960s, including a selection of Old
Scots favourites.

£35 for up to 15 participants. Duration 1 hour.


Talk and Reminisce

Get together for a chat about how life has changed. We will bring along a box of reminiscence objects and photos which will help stimulate stories and memories.

£35 for up to 15 participants. Duration 1 hour.

Current topics include:

  • Toys Through Time – A hands- on exploration of toys, games and childhood play over the years.
  • Right up my Street – A visit to the high street of by-gone days, featuring photos from North Lanarkshire’s archive and local studies collections.
  • The Steamie – A history of the weekly wash; wash houses, wash boards and mangles.
  • Up the Dancing – Dancehalls and fashion through the years.
  • Weaving Taster Session – Learn about Lanarkshire’s hand loom weaving tradition and have a go at simple peg weaving.
  • Cinema Memories – Recall the heyday of the
    big screen.

 


Memory Boxes

Our memory boxes include objects photos and information labels on selected topics. Borrow a box to use with your group for reminiscence,
drawing, exhibition or to support drama.

£35 for two weeks hire.

Boxes can be collected and returned to Summerlee Museum or North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre.

Reminiscence Visits to the Museum

A short, guided tour of the museum tailored for your group plus an object handling or short craft session. Available at any North Lanarkshire Museum.

£35 for up to 15 participants. Duration 1 hour. Must be pre-booked.


B Flat Miners

The life of a miner performed through story and song by three talented Summerlee Museum staff. A musical journey from the 1940s to present day. Interactive, funny and heartwarming… and that’s just Toni Macaroni…!

£200 for a 50 minute session. Travel costs out with North Lanarkshire will apply.
