THE ROMANS

Discover more about the Romans in Scotland. Learn about the food
they ate, the clothes they wore and the impact of the Roman army on Lanarkshire. Pupils will also have the opportunity to handle full size replica armour and domestic objects and even try on a toga. S0C 2-04a

SCOTTISH KNIGHTS AND CASTLES

Discover more about medieval Lanarkshire. Pupils will learn about the role of the castle, medieval food and banquets, what knights did and enjoy some hands on fun with full size replica armour. S0C 2-04a

 

Schools at Colzium Museum, Play Area and Garden

Spectacularly located in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Kilsyth, your pupils can enjoy a workshop, take part in a history/nature walk, play around and still have time for a packed lunch either indoors or outdoors if the weather is fine! The workshops are available morning and afternoon in May and June 2020.

GARDEN OF DELIGHTS
First/Second Level £50 / 90mins /P1-4

This workshop takes place in the beautiful gardens of Colzium House where pupils will enjoy a guided nature walk looking for evidence of animals, birds, insects and pond life. They will also have a chance to make their own nature craft creation to take home.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing for this workshop. SCN 2-01a

WEAVING NATURE
Second Level £50 / 90mins / P4-7
This 90 minute workshop explores Colzium gardens looking at plants and animals using magnifiers. Each pupil will create a small piece of weaving, as well as getting with hands on with the traditional skills of carding, spinning and weaving.

 

Christmas and Special Exhibitions

We offer special workshops for early years and primary classes in Summerlee Museum and North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre during December and additional workshops for special exhibitions through the year. Places book up quickly so look out for the circular or ring 01236 638460 for information.
