
Explore your family tree
The Archives and Local History team would like to invite you to visit your past and explore your family tree over 4 relaxed and friendly workshops using birth, death and marriage certificates, census returns, cemetery and poor relief records. Discover hints and tips on how to dig up the past using online and other resources.
This course takes place twice a year at different locations in North Lanarkshire or online. It is presented by our Local Studies Officer and our Archivist.
Each session last about 90 to 120 minutes and topics covered include:
- How to start researching your family tree.
- Cemetery and Poor Law records and other archive registers.
- Online resources for family history researchers.
- Introduction to reading old handwriting and archives records for visualising your ancestors’ lives.
There is a cost for this class which includes course materials and refreshments.
