Tracing Your Family History
The Centre has five workstations for use by the public for family history research.
If you want to do your own research, you can book a place by telephoning 01698 346780.
You can
- access Scotland’s People website
- use ‘Roots Magic’ software to create family trees
- scan in your family documents and photographs
- print Scotland’s people website images
- save your documents to a memory stick
- purchase preprinted family tree posters and/or children’s tree activity posters
We can
- provide information about your family through research of records held on DI GROS (Digital Imaging of General Register Office for Scotland) events.
- access
- statutory records of Scottish births, deaths and marriages from 1855
- divorce records from May 1984
- old Parish records from 1538 to 1854 including
- births and baptisms
- banns and marriages
- deaths and burial
- use our expertise to produce your family tree
- scan copies of family documents and photographs you provide
- collate the findings
- produce your family history book in a spiral bound format which can be easily extended
