Holytown Community Facility was built in 1925 under the Miners Welfare Fund (The Mining Industry Act 1920). The building was used for the miners and their families for meetings, recreation & socialising.
When the pits closed and the miners’ numbers dwindled the Committee signed the building over to Lanark County Council’s Education Department on condition that it was used for the Community.
