Get Your Poem On Our eBook Service.

On World Poetry Day we launched our 2022 Poetry Competition.

This is your chance to try your hand at writing poetry and we will select the best and create a poetry collection on our eBook service BorrowBox. We’ll release this collection on National Poetry Day 2022 on Thursday 6 October.

How To Get Involved

Our competition is open to all in North Lanarkshire. We’re challenging you to use Scotland’s Year of Stories as inspiration and write an original poem based on the theme Stories. Your poem can be about whatever the theme of Stories means to you.

The poem should be no longer than 500 words and should be submitted either as a Word Document via email to libraries@northlan.gov.uk or using the form below. Your entry can be written in English, Scots or Gaelic and must also have a title.

The competition opened on Monday 21 March 2022 and the closing date for entries is 5pm on Wednesday 31 August.

Our panel of judges will select a collection that we will use to create a special National Poetry Day eBook and release it on that date for all of our library members to enjoy through BorrowBox.

Submitting Your Poem

Poems can be submitted as a Word Document via email to libraries@northlan.gov.uk. Don’t forget to include your name and a title for your poem. Alternatively, you can use the form below to submit it too.
