Book Gift packs bit Bookbug

Your child is entitled to four free Bookbug packs at different ages as part of the Scottish Book Trust’s Early Years Programme.The packs are delivered as follows:

Bookbug Baby     For Babies aged 6-16 weeks

The Bookbug Baby Pack is a fantastic introduction to sharing books with your child from birth. The pack includes 2 sturdy board books, a musical CD and a parent’s guide to sharing books with your child, all contained in a strong canvas bag. Please note that the canvas bag is for parents and is not suitable for babies to use unattended.

How do I get this pack for my baby?

  • Packs are usually gifted to babies at around 6 – 16 weeks by their health visitor or a member of the Public Health Team at your local health centre.
  • Usually it will be gifted at their child’s 16 wk immunisation.

Bookbug toddler   For Toddlers aged 13-24 months

The Bookbug Toddler Pack aims to boost a child’s language and listening skills with fun, engaging books and materials. Featuring Bookbug Toddler, this second pack also contains brightly coloured crayons and a ‘My Storybook’ pad to encourage early mark making. Please note that the canvas bag is for parents and is not suitable for babies to use unattended.

How do I get this pack for my toddler?

  • The Bookbug Toddler pack is gifted to toddlers from the age of 13-24 months by their health visitor or a member of the Public Health Team at your local health centre.
  • Usually it will be gifted at their child’s MMR immunisation at 13 months.

Bookbug Pirate Pack   For young children aged 3 years

The Pirate Pack builds on the book sharing message of the first two packs. Every little pirate in Scotland will receive a small canvas bag full of exciting pirate themed contents, including a sturdy metal ‘Treasure Chest’ pencil case, filled with a variety of different writing and drawing tools, a bundle of postcards which can be used to tell friends and family about their adventures on the high seas, and 2 beautifully illustrated picture books!

How do I get this pack for my child?

  • Most children will receive their Bookbug Pirate pack via their early years setting, i.e. local authority and independent nurseries.
  • If your child doesn’t attend such a group please contact the Bookbug Co-ordinator.

Bookbug Primary 1 Family Pack     For children in Primary 1 

 The Primary 1 Family Pack is gifted to every Primary 1 pupil in Scotland to help create a lasting link between reading at school and at home. The pack includes three brilliant picture books, all shortlisted for the Scottish Children’s Book Awards 2012, an activity pack, and a new story in Scots.

 How do I get this pack for my child?

  • This pack is gifted via your child’s school.
