WINTER OPEN EVENINGS

Airdrie Observatory has begun its season of winter open evenings.

If you fancy chance to be involved, visit the Observatory on Tuesday evenings from 5.30pm-7pm from now until Christmas.

Our Curators will be on hand to provide expert hints, tips and advice on any astronomy or telescope-related queries, and (weather permitting) we will be using the historic Cooke telescope to view the winter skies. All are welcome to visit the historic Observatory.

MAKING HISTORY ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

As we remember iconic women from around the world today, we’re pleased to add another to the list. Airdrie-born Hannah Malone was delighted to become the youngest and first ever female Honorary Curator for the Airdrie Observatory facility in Airdrie Library.

“I am thrilled to be appointed to this post. It is an honour to follow in the footsteps of all the people who have worked through the years caring for the Observatory.

I hope that I can help to encourage a new generation, especially other young women, to get involved.”
